SWOT-Strenghts.Weaknesses.Opportunities.Threats
1.Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats of Table-Tennis.
2.Which area and how we can improve?
3.Quality of team.
Firstly, Strengths:
*Our tabletennis team is a "warm-blooded" bunch and we are quite connected.
-We would joke around and play with each other to test our skills or learn new skills.
-We will involve everyone in different activities, like having friendly matches amongst us.
*Majority of us are devoted to table tennis.
-CCA starts at 3.30pm to 6.30pm. Majority came at 2.30 and set up tables themselves. We leave at 7pm sometimes with no complaints.
-We pack up everything, and now, we pick up all the balls, even those under the tables and chairs.
-Majority of us take the initiative to ask coach and did what we are supposed to do.
-Some of us have no experience in the game before joining table tennis but we are learning & improving fast.
*We encourage one another during competitions.
-We lost many competitions but we get over it quickly.
-We cheer each other up and we try our best to give our support in all competitions.
-The juniors are concerned about the results and encourage us even though they already know that it is very tough for us to win our opponents.
Secondly, Weaknesses:
*Our table-tennis team has very low sense of responsibility.
-In around March, we have a box that was half-full of balls. In around April or so, we lonly eft one-third of the original amount in the box. In our previous trainings, we threw at least 6 balls on average and we thought nothing of it.
-Few of us have dropped the tables countless times because of our clumsiness and this has resulted in at least 3 tables spoilt.
1)Two tables are unbalanced, 1 side high, 1 side low; the metals at the sides are dented.
2)One table got a spoilt wheel which is always dropping out.
-We dropped the blockers many times too.
1)Two blockers are bent in the middle.
2)One blocker has loose screws at the side and it is unstable.
-Some of us left in a hurry and left their BATS & CCA CARDS in the hall! The Teacher-In-Charge have to keep for them when this happens.
*Minority of us came at 4pm and kept going for "Breaks".
-We go to the toilet and canteen very often, slack and chat with our friends.
-Majority of the girls rarely participate in competitions organized by STTA or other organisations.
*Minority, especially girls, bring their own emotions to CCA trainings, resulting in moodless plays. This year is better though, but we can still improve.
Thirdly, Opportunities:
*Our coach is paid to come here and teach us new skills. $60 per year per person. He is a coach at AMK pri sch who has trained up many outstanding students in the school. The pri sch students are even better than majority of us, the Secondary students. We have friendly matches against their sch in 2008 and we lost pretty badly. Having this coach is our honour and he has helped many of us improve in our skills & we are still improving.
-Through him, we have learnt how many good players play and learnt how/what to observe.
-Also through him, we are always updated on any table-tennis tournaments & are encouraged to take part.
*This year, our Teacher-In-Charge was able to get us have friendly matches against Ngee Ann Sec .
-We were given the chance to gain more experience and played with neighbourhood sch.
-We learnt that we should not despise neighbourhood sch players' skills & learn from them instead .
*LianHeZaoBao organises a tournament, open and local for public annually.
-Hopefully, we are able to observe those good players from Sports Sch/China & make friends with them to learn more. Also, we are able to have friendly matches with friends we've made at the tournament too.
-The best thing is to be able to look out for good Pri 6 players to join MF & play for our sch.
Fourthly, Threats:
*Many other schools are recruiting in china players and national players into their school. This is a great threat to us because our percentage of winning will decrease when we play against them. -We would have to improve ourselves and work very hard during trainings in order to win more tournaments.
Which area and how we can improve?
*We are going to work on our weaknesses, especially our sense of responsibility.
-We need something to start on building up our sense of responsibilty. So, we shall start by taking ownership and good care of our equipment, mainly the table-tennis balls and tables. Our strategy is to get everyone to pay 50cents to put into the CCA fund and use the money to buy balls. The balls should not get any lesser. If anyone step on the ball, they will have to pay 50cents AUTOMATICALLY.
-Everytime when we start our service, look around for balls and PICK them up, put them in BASKET/POCKET. NEVER KICK it!
-As for tables, we have to get 2 players when we are keeping the tables at the end of training. Dont over-estimate ourself. Tables are very expensive and we cannot buy as and when we like. Thus, we have to protect, love and cherish them.
-BLOCKERS! Dont think they are cheap stuffs! They cost alot too. Carry 2 at a time, lift them up and put it down gently. We move the blockers, not crawl/jump/walk under/over !
*Punctuality
-Come for CCA at 3.15pm to help set up everything and start training. Go toilet before CCA starts.
-Limit yourself to a 5 mins break, only one at a time.
-CCA ends at 6.30pm. Keep the tables and pick up all the balls before leaving. Do your part.
*Emotions
-Yesyesyes, you cry, you scream, you may do whatever you like...Just dont bring it to CCA and affect your teammates. Focus, train hard and train well!
-Vent your anger in CCA! Great time, show the power! Smack it! Isnt it btr?
Hopefully by the end of this year, improvements would be made. (:
