NIE Director's Race 2008

NIE will be organising the 3rd Director's Race 2008 and all registration fees and proceeds from the event will go to the Singapore Children's Society, their adopted beneficiary for this year's Director's Race. The details of the event are as follow:

Venue: NIE/NTU campus
Date: 22 August 2008 (Friday)
Time: 4.30 - 9.15pm1)

Director's Relay:
Each relay team comprises 6 members (2.4km per runner)

Relay Categories:
- Open (mixed, at least 1 female runner)
- Secondary School (Al l male)
- Secondary School (All female)

Registration fees: $120 per team for all categories
Prizes: (for all categories)
- 1st ($500)
- 2nd ($400)
- 3rd ($300)

2) Director's Fun Run:Each individual will complete 1 lap of 2.4km
Registration fees
- Students: $10 per student (Concessionary rate - registration through school via teacher-in-charge)

Prizes: No prizes for fun race. However, participants will get goodie bags, T-shirts and a chance at lucky draw prizes.

In recent years, the B division boy's school team has been boosted by the C team boys joining the team at the beginning of the year; and the C division boy’s team too has also increased in its number of members. However, the setback is that the new members are still inexperienced and will therefore require more exposure in inter-school tournaments.

The table-tennis club has been recruiting and encouraging more girls to join the club and to explore the potential of sending in a girl's team in subsequent competitions this year. New equipment has been purchased and installed to meet the projected increase in membership.

We hope that all divisions will get to participate in the inter-school competition and bring glory to the school. Taking part in the tournaments also help to build teamwork and confidence in our members. Table-tennis not only allow the pupils to learn the rules and skills of the game but also help build character and sportsmanship which in turn enhance the total development in the pupils.
